About Taiwan Concrete Institute
Taiwan Concrete Institute, TCI, is an independent, non-profit organization under the Ministry of Interior in this country. The Institute was formally established on July 1, 2006. This Institute, the only professional society on Concrete in Taiwan, is composed of members from the academia, government, and industrial agencies dealing with concrete materials, design, construction, repair, and rehabilitation of concrete structures. The founding members of TCI are from the Concrete Committee of the Chinese Institute of Civil and Hydraulic Engineering (CICHE) and the American Concrete Institute’s (ACI) Taiwan Chapter. The board members of TCI are composed of representatives from the senior members of the cement industry, ready-mixed concrete industry, steel company, government agencies, professional engineers and architects associations, consultant firms, universities, and concrete related organizations. TCI is the official Taiwan representative to Asian Concrete Federation.
GOAL
The main goal of the Institute is to advance the concrete technology and concrete construction quality to enhance the welfare of the society and to better use of limited natural resources and protect the environment.
MISSIONS
The missions of the Institute listed in the Constitution are the following:
- to organize and conduct academic and technical activities relating to concrete and construction industry;
- to promote the research and development of concrete technology;
- to participate in the development of concrete codes and regulations for the government and the concrete industry;
- to help create a better environment for the concrete industry;
- to promote green concrete construction and the sustainable use of natural resources;
- to cultivate the professional workforce for concrete industry and facilitate the sharing of knowledge and experience through publications;
- to establish and promote relations with concrete societies of mainland China and international bodies;
- to conduct other activities and service that conform to the Constitution.
